Kavvanah for the Mitzvah of Kindling the Ḥanukah Lights by Rebbe Tzvi Elimelech Spira of Dinov (trans. Morah Yehudis Fishman)

For the purpose of the unification of the Holy One and His divine (feminine) Presence, with trepidation and love and love and trepidation, to unify the name Yud-Kay with Vav-Kay (the four letters of the Tetragrammaton) with a complete unity in the name of all Israel, behold I intend in the lighting of the Hanukkah candle to fulfill the command of my Creator as our wise men of blessed memory have commanded us to repair her root in a supernal abode.

And so, may it be Your will before You, the L-rd our G-d and G-d of our ancestors, that the commandment of lighting the Hanukkah candle should be as important , accepted, and desirable before You as if I had intended all the intentions that were intended by the priests, the ministers of G-d, at the time that they aroused their souls to the death for the sake of the honor of Your great, powerful and awesome name.

And You, through your abundant compassion, awakened Your victory upon them, to overcome their opponents and to be victorious for the activities of the house of G-d. Behold I serve as an extension of their awareness and intention and on the awareness of all the righteous and pious ones that were in that generation, upon whom You bestowed Your miracles and who merited to shine with the illumination of life. With the awareness of all the righteous and the pious in our generation, and with the mouth of their mouths and the acts of their acts, and in the merit of this mitzvah, may You cause us to merit to win over our opponents and to be victorious for the service of G-d’s Home, and reveal the glory of Your majesty upon us speedily. May the Torah never depart from our mouths and the mouths of our offspring, and the offspring of our offspring, from now and forever. And may we merit children who are students of the wise, Amen, so may it be Your will.

Sanctify us in Your commandments and give us a portion in Your Torah. Satiate us from Your goodness, cause our souls to rejoice in Your salvations, and purify our hearts to serve You in truth.

Draw the whole world to Your glory, be elevated above all the earth in Your splendor, and manifest in the magnificent majesty of Your might over all the dwellers of Your terrestrial plane. And may every creature know that you made it, may every created being understand that You created it, and may all who have a breath in his nostrils (‘Bi’apo=in his nostrils, numerically equals 89 which is the same equivalent as the Hebrew spelling of Hanukkah) proclaim: ‘ L-rd, the G-d of Israel, the King and His Kingdom, reigns over all [….].

Amen, for all eternity.

The preceding kavvanah for the mitzvah of kindlingwas composed by (Rebbe Tzvi Elimelech Spira of Dynów, c.1783 – 1841), author of the בני יששכר (Bnei Yiśakhar) and founder of the Ḥasidic lineage that includes the Ḥasidim of Munkacz and Bluzhov. The kavvanah often appears just prior to the brakhot for kindling the lights of Ḥanukah in many Ḥasidic prayerbooks.

We are extremely grateful to Morah Yehudis Fishman for her translation of this kavvanah in time for the fifth night of Ḥanukah 5774.

Here there is a complex gematria-numerical equivalence
