This is Rabbi Dr. Leo Beack’s prayer for his wife Natalie Baeck née Hamburger (1878-1937), dated 7 March 1937. Natalie had died two days prior on 5 March.

Prayer for all Jewish Communities in Germany for the Eve of the Day of Atonement, by Rabbi Dr. Leo Baeck (10 October 1935)

This is the prayer which Rabbi Dr. Leo Baeck had disseminated to Jewish communities throughout Germany to recite on Yom Kippur, 10 October 1935. The German text here is as found in the archival notes of Helmut Grünewald, Ein Judenjunge durfte kein Deutscher sein (Bristol, 1998), pp. 20-21 in the collection of the Leo Baeck Institute. The English translation is as published by Dr. Michael Meyer in Rabbi Leo Baeck: Living a Religious Imperative in Troubled Times (2020), pp. 106-107.

שׁוֹבֵר אוֹיְבִים | Prayer for Our Enemies, by Rabbi Abraham Cronbach (1932)

This prayer, entitled “[Prayer for] Our Enemies,” was published in The Jewish Peace Book for Home and School (1932) under “Section Ⅲ: Peace Devotions for Jewish Use — Prayers for Peace” on pages 100-101. This prayer seems to me to be inspired by (or a reformulation of) the traditional twelfth blessing of the weekday Amidah, שׁוֹבֵר אוֹיְבִים וּמַכְנִיעַ זֵדִים shovér oyvim u-makhniya zedim (“who breaks enemies and overpowers evil ones”) a/k/a la-malshinim or al haminim.

Prayer for Our Country, by Rabbi Abraham Cronbach (1932)

This prayer, entitled “[Prayer for] Our Country,” was published in The Jewish Peace Book for Home and School (1932) under “Section III: Peace Devotions for Jewish Use — Prayers for Peace” on page 100.

Prayer for Unity (Pour Out Thy Blessing), an alternative formulation of Shfokh Ḥamatekha by Rabbi Abraham Cronbach (1932)

This prayer, entitled “[Prayer for] Unity,” was published in The Jewish Peace Book for Home and School (1932) under “Section III: Peace Devotions for Jewish Use — Prayers for Peace” on page 100. Following the prayer, Rabbi Cronbach notes the prayer is “from Peace Service, compiled by [the] National Council for the Prevention of War (NCPW).” The prayer reads to me as alternative formulation of the prayer Shfokh Ḥamatkha offered at the traditional pouring of Elijah’s cup before the Pesaḥ seder’s Hallel service.

📖 שִׁילֹה סִדּוּר תְּפִלָּה לְשַׁבָּת וּלְיוֹם טוֹב | Shilo Prayer Book [for Shabbat & Festivals] for Junior Congregations (1932/1966)

שילה סדור תפלה לשבת וליום טוב Shilo Prayer Book for Junior Congregations (1966) is an abridged, bilingual Hebrew-English siddur by Ẓevi Scharfstein (1884-1972). The siddur for Jewish youth congregations is adapted from תפלתינו: סדור לכל השנה Tefilaténu: Siddur l’Khol ha-Shanah (1932), reprinted numerous times, albeit with line numbers and without an English translation. Here, Scharfstein’s translation accompanies the Hebrew and forgoes the line numbers. It is the only edition of a siddur from Shilo Publishing House containing an English translation.

ברכה למדרש החכמה | Prayer for the University [of Oxford] (22 June 1931)

A “Prayer for the University” found in the Seder ha-Tefilah (Order of Service) arranged by the Jewish community of Oxford, England in 1931 at a special event celebrating the centenary of the scholar and librarian at the Bodleian Library, Dr. Adolf Neubauer (1831-1907).
