A Tefilah for Election Day (Tzohar, 2026)

I offer my thanks to You,
Rock of Israel and its Redeemer,
for Your kindness in allowing me
to live at a time where I am blessed to witness
the rebirth of Israel in its own land,
and for the privilege and responsibility
that has been afforded to me
to vote for the Knesset of the State of Israel.
I vote out of a sense of partnership,
responsibility,
concern,
and belonging to Israeli society,
and out of faith in the State
and a desire for its well-being
and for the well-being of its people.
*I commit to accepting the decision of the people*,
and I pray that we may all know
how to respect and appreciate
even those who think and vote differently.
May it be Your will,
Hashem my God and God of my ancestors,
that You instill in the hearts of all those elected to office
the determination to act
for the security and prosperity
of the State of Israel,
and the strength and wisdom
to disagree with one another respectfully
and to preserve our unity.
May You strengthen the elected representatives
and all those who work in public service,
so that they may act
with professionalism,
integrity,
and transparency.
May they be blessed to succeed in all their endeavors,
and may the following verse be fulfilled among us:
“and be settled in security in your land.
I will give peace throughout the land,
so that you will lie down with none to make you tremble” (Leviticus 26:5-6)

This prayer for a voter on Election Day in the State of Israel was disseminated by Tzohar via its social media page on Facebook and via Arutz Sheva on 26 October 2026 in Hebrew with a separate English translation. I have transcribed the text from the images and set the English opposite the Hebrew. –Aharon Varady
