He who dispenses salvation unto kings,
and dominion unto princes;
whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom;
who delivered his servant David from the destructive sword;
who made a way in the Sea,[1] i.e., the Sea of Reeds.
and a path through the strong waters,[2] i.e., the River Jordan.
May he bless and keep,
preserve and rescue
exalt and magnify
and lift up higher and higher,
To Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands[3] In 1950, this was Queen Juliana (1909-2004) who reigned from 1948-1980.
and Her Royal Consort;[4] Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld (1911-2004)
to the most serene princesses her daughters,
to the most serene princess, Her [Queen] Mother;[5] This would be the former queen, Wilhelmina (1880-1962) who abdicated in 1948.
to the descendants of the Royal House of Orange-Nassau;
to the illustrious Members
that concur in the Government of these Lands
and to the noble and venerable Burgomasters and Magistrates
of this City of Amsterdam.
A Sua Majestade a Rainha dos Paizes Baixos
e Seu Real Consorte;
as serenissimas Princezas suas Filhas,
a serenissima Princeza, madama Sua May;
aos descendentes da Caza Real de Orange-Nassâo;

May the supreme King of kings
in his mercy, defend them and make them joyful
and deliver them from all manner of danger and distress;
May the supreme King of kings
in his mercy, exalt and elevate their planetary star,
and prolong their days over their government;
May the supreme King of kings
in his mercy, put into their heart
and into the hearts of all their counsellors and ministers
that they may show mercy unto us
and unto all the people of Yisrael, our brethren;
In their days and in ours,
may Yehudah be safe,
and Yisrael dwell securely;
and may the Redeemer come unto Tsiyon,
and so may it be his will;
and let us say, Amen.

This is the prayer for the Dutch royal family and the city government of Amsterdam as found in תפלת כל פה Geberden der Portugees-Israelieten (B. Israel Ricardo 1950). The formula preserved here is closer to the 17th century English translation of hanoten teshua presented by Menasseh ben Israel to Oliver Cromwell. –Aharon Varady
