Al hanissim,
v’al hapurqan, v’al hag’vurot, v’al hat’shu’ot, v’al hamilḥamot,
she-asita lavoteinu bayamim haheim uvaz’man hazeh.
We thank You for the miraculous deliverance,
for the heroism, and for the triumphs of our ancestors
from ancient days until our time.[1] Translation credit [for the opening to al-hanissim] to the Rabbinical Assembly

In the days of the State of Israel,
the beginning of the flowering of our redemption,
when the evil terror organization Hamas arose against Your people Israel,
on the day of Simḥat Torah to attack and capture men and women,
old and young, girls and boys–
V’atah b’raḥamekha harabim,

B’eit tsa’areinu ḥidashta et simḥateinu.
Yom atseret l’hodot ulhallel l’shimkha hagadol.
And You in Your great mercy,
after seven hundred and thirty-seven long days,
spread the sukkah of Your peace.
You brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
You released their bonds,
You returned them to the embrace of their families.
You saved Your people.
In the time of our sorrow You renewed our joy.
A day of gathering to praise and celebrate Your great name.
