אֵל מָלֵא רַחֲמִים שׁוֹכֵן בַּמְּרוֹמִים,
הַמְצֵא מְנוּחָה נְכוֹנָה עַל כַּנְפֵי הַשְּׁכִינָה,
בְּמַעֲלוֹת קְדוֹשִׁים, טְהוֹרִים וְגִבּוֹרִים,
כְּזֹֽהַר הָרָקִֽיעַ מַזְהִירִים,
לְנִשְׁמוֹת כׇּל אַחֵֽינוּ וְאַחֲיוֹתֵֽינוּ הַקְּדוֹשִׁים,
אֲנָשִׁים נָשִׁים וְטַף,
זְקֵנִים עִם נְעָרִים,
שֶׁנִּרְצְחוּ בָּאַרְצֵֽנוּ
עַל קִדּוּשׁ הַשֵּׁם
בִּידֵי מְרַצְּחִים מֵאִרְגּוּנֵי הַטֶרוֹר –
יִּמַח שְׁמָם לָעַד, וְזִכְרָם לְדִרְאוֹן עוֹלָם.
בַּעֲבוּר שֶׁאָֽנוּ מִתְפַּלְלִים לְעִלּוּי נִשְׁמָתָם.

God, full of mercy who dwells on high,
grant fitting rest in Your sheltering presence,
in the heights of the holy, the pure and the brave,
who shine like the radiance of heaven,
to the souls of the holy
men, women and children,
old and young alike,
who were brutally murdered in our Holy Land,
sanctifying Your name,
at the hands of terrorists.

We pray for the ascent of their souls.

לָכֵן בַּֽעַל הָרַחֲמִים
יַסְתִּירֵם בְּסֵֽתֶר כְּנָפָיו לְעוֹלָמִים
וְיִצְרוֹר בִּצְרוֹר הַחַיִּים אֶת נִשְׁמָתָם.
אֲדֹנָי הוּא נַחֲלָתָם.
בְּגַן עֵֽדֶן תְּהֵא מְנוּחָתָם,
וְיָנֽוּחוּ בְשָׁלוֹם עַל מִשְׁכָּבָם,
וְיַעַמְדוּ לְגוֹרָלָם לְקֵץ הַיָּמִין,
וְנֹאמַר אָמֵן.

Master of compassion,
shelter them in the shadow of Your wings forever,
and bind their souls in the bond of everlasting life.
Adonai is their heritage,
may the Garden of Eden be their resting place.
May they rest in peace,
and may they receive their reward at the End of Days,
and let us say, Amen.

R' Hillel Ḥayyim Lavery-Yisraëli

Hillel Lavery-Yisraëli is the rabbi of Israel Center of Conservative Judaism in Queens, New York. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, he did most of his rabbinical training in Jerusalem. He lived in Israel for 16 years, during which time he taught at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem and served as the rabbi of Conservative Congregation Beit Israel in Netanya. From 2012-2015 he served as chief rabbi of Gothenburg, Sweden. Until August 2022, he served as the rabbi of Beth Jacob Synagogue in Hamilton, Canada. In keeping with his position as rabbi, he is an activist for human rights, women’s rights, anti-racism, 2S LGBTQIA+ rights and basic income.
