Psalms 117, translated and cantillated for Hallel by Isaac Gantwerk Mayer

Psalms 117

Praise the Cause, all nations,
exalt the One, all countries!

For great upon us is Divine mercy,
and the truth of the Cause is forever!
Praise the Source!

“The Cause” is used to translate the Divine Name, based on the philosophical idea of God as the Prime Mover and on the interpretation of the Name as a causative form of the copula – “causes to be.”

Psalms 117 is part of the Hallel Shalem or Ḥatsi Hallel near the end of Shaḥarit on festival days.
