Note: “The CAUSE” is used to translate the Divine Name YHVH, based on the philosophical idea of God as the Prime Mover and on the interpretation of the Name as a causative form of the copula – “causes to be.” This translation also uses the plural pronouns They/Their/Them to refer to God as a pluralis majestatis, and to avoid the implications of God being assigned a gender. (Find Ibn Ezra’s commentary on Genesis 1:1 for a discussion of the pluralis majestatis when referring to God.) All divine referents (pronouns, epithets, names) are rendered in unicase.

It is incumbent on the men of action to study on the new moon of Nisan, immediately after prayer, the portion of establishing the tabernacle, as a remembrance of the tabernacle which was established on that day: |
And after this first-day reading, say: |
May it be willed before You, Cause our God and God of our ancestors, that important and desired be our reading in the Teaching, the order of the offering of the prince Naḥshon son of ‘Amminadav of the tribe of Judah, sealed in kingship, his offering that he offered for the rededication of Your holy tabernacle, and may it ascend for us as if we exalted all the secrets and all the holy names deriving from the first and last-letter acrostics of these holy occasions, that our lips may fulfill bulls. (Hosea 14:3) |
And may all the sparks of holiness and all the holy lights and all the house of Israel our brothers, included in the sanctity of this tribe, enlighten us and may we be clad in the sanctity of this tribe, to establish and understand Your Teaching, and, revering you, the highest reverence, doing Your will as Your will, all the days of our lives, us and our seed and our seed’s seed. |
And just as this month You redeemed Your people the tribes of Your inheritance from the iron furnace, from Egypt, and remembered in love the start, for a name and for glory, the names of the tribes of our ancestors, for the miracles and for the deliverance and for the mighty acts and for the salvations[1] From the Al haNisim liturgy for thanksgiving days that You did with them, thus, Cause our God and God of our ancestors, account for Your flock in compassion, and remember for us the primordial love, the tribes of Yahʰ, this exiled force,[2] Cf. Obadiah 1:20 the tribe of Judah in struggle and pain, and just as they thanked the Cause for Their mercy in leaving Egypt by Judah’s merit, |
so too we will thank You, Cause our God and God of our ancestors, for our redemption and for the deliverance of our souls, by merit of Judah king over his brothers, and the staff will not depart from Judah nor the lawgiver from between his legs,[3] Genesis 49:10 and his seed will forever be, and his throne like the sun[4] Psalms 89:37 before You, a king in his beauty[5] Isaiah 33:17 will our eyes behold and our hearts rejoice, and You will reign, Cause our God speedily over all Your works, on Mount Ẓíōn Your holy abode, and in Jerusalem the city of Your temple, |
as is written in Your holy writings:[6] From the Uvkhen additions to the third blessing for the High Holy Days the Cause will reign forever; your God, Ẓíōn, from generation to generation, hallelu–ʝahʰ! (Psalms 146:10) And it is said, for the Cause’s is sovereignty, and rule over all nations. (Psalms 22:29) And the Cause will rule over all the earth; on that day the Cause will be one and Their name will be one. (Zechariah 14:9) |
And after that say this prayer on every day for the ascent of souls. |
May it be willed before You, Cause our God and God of our ancestors, that You enlighten today, in Your great mercy, the holy souls standing in three rows in Eden, screeching their voices like birds, and all their souls praise Yahʰ, to laud and glorify Your splendid name, and plea a plea of life and peace upon us, the children of Your beloved. |
Please, in the strength of the force of Your compassion, may Your ears incline[9] Psalms 130:2 to them, and hearken to their prayer in compassion, to nullify from upon us and from upon all the house of Israel all anger and all kinds of destruction and all kinds of punishment, and extend our days in good, and our years in pleasantnesses, a life of quietude, a life of goodness, a life of blessing, a life of prosperity, a life of strength of essence, a life with fear of sin, a life without shame and disgrace, a life of wealth and honor for Your service, a life with love of the Teaching for its own sake, a life in which the desires of our hearts are filled for good.[10] From the prayer of Rav, from Bavli Berakhot 16b |
And may Your mercy be on these holy souls, that their good memory ascend come and arrive, be seen and be desired, be heard, be accounted for, and be remembered[11] From the Ya’ale v-Yavo prayer of festival days before the throne of Your glory, and find them rest, and bind their souls before and behind in the place of holiness — no eye has seen it, God, but Yours![12] Isaiah 64:3 |
And sate the descendants of their souls; let them fill up on the richness of Your house, and drink of Your refreshing stream.[13] Psalms 36:9 And place our portion with them,[14] From the Al ha-Tsaddiqim weekday liturgy that we merit and live and inherit goodness and blessing for the life of the world to come.[15] From the uVa l-Tsiyon prayer |
And these souls, scattered and flying like the universal ether, and those that died before their time and were handed over to silence,[16] Possibly referring to Dumah, the angel over death and those who were hidden in the ground, that they sprout up from the city like grass of the land,[17] Psalms 72:16 for they do not yet have the strength to go to their rest[18] Possibly referring to the gilgul hanefesh — the principle of ḳabbalistic reincarnation of spirit — |
You are the Deity, who enlightens the land and those who dwell on it in compassion![19] From the Yotser Or morning prayer Shine Your face and cover their iniquities and crimes, and say to the angel appointed over them to lighten from upon them their judgment and doom and the yoke of their suffering. |

And in the shelter of the Surveyor[23] A translation of the divine name Shaddai, based on Bereshit Rabbah 46:3 (on Genesis 17:1) that the name means “the One who said ‘enough’ (dai).” they will lodge under the wings of the mount-angels, from step to step, from ascent to ascent they will raise and ascend, and for he who lacks merits to ascend, do him mercy and free gifts, as is said: And They said, I will pass all My goodness over your face, and call in the name of the Cause before you, and have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and compassion on whom I will have compassion. May my mouth’s words and my heart’s mutterings be acceptable before You, Cause, my Rock and Redeemer. (Psalms 19:15) |
And after this they say Ḳaddish. |

It is also explained there that some read on the new moon of Nisan, after the reading of the prince, eight portions[24] Counting Numbers 8:5–9:14 as two readings in which the day of the new moon of Nisan are mentioned, and these are they: |
