I will sing a song in honor of the Torah,
Who is more precious than gold, clear and pure
The perfect Torah is extremely pleasant
Who makes the simpleton wise and brings light to all eyes
Fortunate is the one who rules over desire
Who speaks justly and chooses the Torah
God whose name is “Trustworthy” and who chose God’s people
To be for Godself a chosen people
It was given to us by our shepherd
Mosheh our teacher the chosen one of the people

“Ashorer Shirah” was composed by Ḥakham Raphael Baruch Toledano (1890-1971), rabbi of Meknes, Morocco.

The English translation here by Honi Sanders was published in the birkon for his wedding, Siman l’Vanim (Dimus Parrhesia Press 2019). –Aharon Varady
