Herr des Weltalls, reich geschmückt mit deinen Gaben und Segnungen hast du die Natur. Das Thal mit seinem üppigen Grün, der Berg mit seinem Kranz von Wäldern, das Gefilde mit seiner lachenden Frucht ist ein Erzeugnis; deiner Gnade, zum Segen deiner Menschenkinder, zur Nahrung ihres Leibes, zur Stillung ihrer Bedürfnisse, zur Ergötzung ihres Auges, zum Balsam ihrer Wunden; und kein Blättchen ist so klein, kein Grashalm so niedrig in dem weiten Reiche der Natur, daß es nicht wohlthuende heilsame Kräfte für uns enthielte. Source of Being, how abundantly you have adorned the natural world with your gifts and blessings! The valley with its luxurious greens, the mountain with its crown of forests, the fields with their fruits are all signs of your mercy, of your blessing to your human children for the nourishment of their bodies and the fulfillment of their needs, for the delight of their eyes and as a balm for their wounds. Amid nature’s vast richness no leaf is too small, no blade of grass too humble that it lacks healing power. The simple shrub and the resplendent tree, the sweet-smelling sprig and the golden fruit— all of them call to us: “Praise, you mortal beings, the Almighty One, who created all these wonders. Praise, you earthly children, your heavenly parent, who has provided and cared for you with such abundant goodness.” So with praise, devotion, and gratitude, we grasp this festival bouquet, which holds the fourfold signs of nature, this miniature portrait of the rich diversity of the earth, this declaration of your might and goodness, O God. We raise, lower, and point it toward the six directions of earth and heaven because blessing awakens and sprouts from all sides and corners of the universe. Singing praises, we carry it around your altar. |

Yet, Eternal One, not only do our mouths thank you, not only do our lips sing your praises, but we also must honor and extol you through our deeds, through our devotion, through our love. Just as you lovingly bless us with your goodness, so shall we be loving toward the poor in our midst. Just as you give us festivals of blessing and joy, so shall we, through generous charity, bring joy and festive feelings to the hearts of those who struggle. the German text is fine, only in the titel it has to be “Esrog” (Ashkenazi for Etrog) not Esrosg! also translation of Ps 26 second line has to read “umringe”, (1.pers. sing.) not “umringt”.
