Minḥah deserves more respect. Every day for Shaḥarit we recite an expansive list of sacrificial traditions, psalms, and other words of praise to bring us to a higher level of holiness. And although Maariv isn’t always as huge, at least once a week we recite multiple Psalms and songs together to bring in Shabbat. But Minḥah is left in the dust – no sacrifices, no psalms, not even a Kriyat Shema.

Some communities do have traditions for leading into Minḥah. Some read certain psalms, others recite the daily offering again. But nobody has established a full and complete passage – parallel to Pesukei d’Zimra or Kabbalat Shabat – for entering Minḥah time. I think this is a shame. Minḥah is a beautiful service – less of a whole meshugass than Shaḥarit, more awake than Maariv is. It is the most accessible service, and the only one that is always done at a time where everyone is fully awake and alert. And that deserves respect.

This service of Parsh’yata d’Fitḥa l’Minḥah is meant to be a parallel to Pesukei d’Zimra or Kabbalat Shabat that preserves the unique character of Minḥah. It is divided into two major sections, parallel to Korbanot and Pesukei.

The first section begins with the recitation of sacrificial instructions in Leviticus and Numbers. But this is not the daily morning offering – instead it uses texts describing the minḥah grain-offerings, which were offered at this time of day. After this, it uses passages from Elijah’s revelation at Mt. Carmel (which occurred “at the time of the minḥah”) and Joel’s call for repentance, again mentioning minḥah offerings. This section of Torah and Nevi’im readings is (again, similarly to Korbanot) concluded with Malachi 3:4, discussing the minḥah offerings of Judah and Jerusalem, along with the text of Targum Jonathan (I personally prefer to recite the Targum in any case where a verse is repeated or otherwise highlighted. If you would rather skip it in your own practice, feel free.)

The second section begins with a benediction. This benediction, though it may seem unfamiliar, has a legitimate halakhic basis. It was used in the ancient Rite of the Land of Israel and is recorded in the Cairo Geniza (see https://cudl.lib.cam.ac.uk/view/MS-TS-H-00018-00009/1 as an example) as the blessing for reciting from Ketuvim. Those who usually feel uncomfortable reciting “new benedictions” should take note that the final verse is a direct quote from Psalms 119:12, one of only two locations in the entire Tanakh where the full passage “בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהוָה” appears (the other is I Chronicles 29:10), so abbreviating it by removing the Name is altering a sacred text.

After this, the second section continues with Psalms 20, which mentions minḥah offerings and concludes with a well-known verse used on multiple occasions during Pesukei and introducing Maariv every weekday. Then Psalms 84, used already in some Sephardi and Italian rites to introduce Minḥah. After this is Psalms 141 because it mentions Minḥah, then straight through to Psalms 142-144. This parallels the recitation of Psalms 146-150 every weekday (so that per day one would read all of the last nine psalms), and leads up to Psalms 145, the grand finale of the opening of Minḥah. But before Psalms 145 we recite four other verses again – all of which were in psalms previously recited, and thus are followed with the Targum for Psalms (a targum that, like Minḥah itself, deserves more respect). The final two, both beginning with “Ashrei,” are the traditional two verses that lead into Psalms 145 and the standard Minḥah service that follows (not included).

“The Cause” is used to translate the Divine Name YHVH, based on the philosophical idea of God as the Prime Mover and on the interpretation of the Name as a causative form of the copula – “causes to be.”

And the leftover from the minḥah is for Aaron and his sons – holy of holies, out of the fire of the Cause.

And if your offering is a minḥah on a griddle, it will be semolina mixed with oil, unleavened. Fragment it into fragments and pour oil on it; that’s a minḥah. And if your offering is a minḥah in a pan, it will be made out of semolina in oil. And you will bring the minḥah that was made in any of those ways to the Cause, and it will be brought to the priest and he will take it up to the altar. And the priest will remove the token-part from the minḥah and he will smoke it up on the altar, a fire offering, a sweet smell to the Cause. And the leftover from the minḥah is for Aaron and his sons – holy of holies, out of the fire of the Cause. Any minḥah that you offer to the Cause will not be made with leaven, for not any yeast and honey may be smoked as a fire-offering to the Cause. As an offering of the best you may bring them to the Cause, but on the altar you will not burn them up for a sweet smell. And all of your minḥah offerings will be salted with salt, and you will not remove the salt of the covenant with your God from upon your minḥah – on all your offerings you will offer salt.

And the Cause spoke to Moses and said: Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, when you go into the dwelling-land that I am giving to you, and will make a fire-offering the Cause, a whole-offering or a regular-offering, for an explicit vow or freely, or for your appointed times, to make a sweet smell to the Cause – from the cattle or from the sheep – then the one offering the offering offers a minḥah to the Cause: a tenth [3.7 lbs] of semolina, mixed with a quarter of a hin [3½ cups] of oil. And wine as a libation – a quarter of a hin [3½ cups] per whole-offering or a thanks-offering is what you will have for each sheep. Or, for a ram, you will do a minḥah – two-tenths [7.4 lbs] of semolina, mixed with a third of a hin [4⅔ cups] oil. And wine as a libation – a third of a hin [4⅔ cups] you will offer as a sweet smell to the Cause. And if it’s from the cattle that you’re making a whole-offering or a regular-offering, for an explicit vow or from thanks to the Cause. Then upon the cattle will be offered a minḥah – three-tenths [11.1 lbs] of semolina mixed with half a hin [7 cups] of oil. And wine as a libation – a half a hin [7 cups], fire-offerings, sweet smells to the the Cause.

Answer me, Cause, answer me, and this people will know that You, Cause are God, and You turned their hearts around!” And fire came down from the Cause and ate the whole-offerings and the wood and the stones and the dirt, and the water in the trench it licked up. And all the people saw and fell on their faces and said, The Cause is God! The Cause is God!

And even now, declares the Cause, return to me with all your hearts, and with fasting and weeping and wailing. Tear your hearts, and not your clothes, and return to the Cause Your God, for Merciful and Compassionate is God, Slow to Anger, Great in Kindness, and Forgiving of Evil. Who knows, God may turn and forgive and leave behind a blessing, minḥah and libation for the Cause Your God!

כִּ֤י הוֹשִׁ֥יעַ ׀ יְהֹוָ֗ה מְשִׁ֫יח֥וֹ
יַ֭עֲנֵהוּ מִשְּׁמֵ֣י קׇדְשׁ֑וֹ
בִּ֝גְבֻר֗וֹת יֵ֣שַׁע יְמִינֽוֹ׃
Now I know
that the Cause will save the anointed,
will answer him from the heavens of the Holy with might,
dexterous victory.
אֵ֣לֶּה בָ֭רֶכֶב וְאֵ֣לֶּה בַסּוּסִ֑ים
וַאֲנַ֓חְנוּ ׀ בְּשֵׁם־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣ינוּ נַזְכִּֽיר׃
They call on chariots, they call on horses,
but we call on the name of the Cause our God.
הֵ֭מָּה כָּרְע֣וּ וְנָפָ֑לוּ
וַאֲנַ֥חְנוּ קַּ֝֗מְנוּ וַנִּתְעוֹדָֽד׃
They collapse and fall,
and we rise and gain strength.
יְהֹוָ֥ה הוֹשִׁ֑יעָה
הַ֝מֶּ֗לֶךְ יַעֲנֵ֥נוּ בְיוֹם־קׇרְאֵֽנוּ׃
O Cause, save!
May the Sovereign answer us on the day we call.

Psalms 84
לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ עַֽל־הַגִּתִּ֑ית
לִבְנֵי־קֹ֥רַח מִזְמֽוֹר׃
For the conductor, on the praelum,
for the children of Koraḥ, a psalm.
מַה־יְּדִיד֥וֹת מִשְׁכְּנוֹתֶ֗יךָ
יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃
How beloved are Your dwelling-places,
Cause of Multitudes!
נִכְסְפָ֬ה וְגַם־כָּֽלְתָ֨ה ׀ נַפְשִׁי֮
לְחַצְר֢וֹת יְהֹ֫וָ֥ה
לִבִּ֥י וּבְשָׂרִ֑י
יְ֝רַנְּנ֗וּ אֶ֣ל אֵֽל־חָֽי׃
We long for, my very self disappears
for the courts of the Cause,
my heart and my flesh
sing out to the God Alive.
גַּם־צִפּ֨וֹר מָ֪צְאָה בַ֡יִת
וּדְר֤וֹר ׀ קֵ֥ן לָהּ֮
אֲשֶׁר־שָׁ֢תָה אֶפְרֹ֫חֶ֥יהָ
אֶֽת־מִ֭זְבְּחוֹתֶיךָ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת
מַ֝לְכִּ֗י וֵאלֹהָֽי׃
Yes, the songbird has found a home,
and the free-bird a nest for herself
where she puts her chicks,
by Your altars, O Cause of Multitudes,
my Sovereign and my God.
אַ֭שְׁרֵי יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י בֵיתֶ֑ךָ
ע֗֝וֹד יְֽהַלְל֥וּךָ סֶּֽלָה׃
Happy are those who dwell in Your house,
forever will they praise You – Selah.
אַשְׁרֵ֣י אָ֭דָם עֽוֹז־ל֥וֹ בָ֑ךְ
מְ֝סִלּ֗וֹת בִּלְבָבָֽם׃
Happy is the person who strengthens himself in You,
the highways on his heart.
עֹבְרֵ֤י ׀ בְּעֵ֣מֶק הַ֭בָּכָא
מַעְיָ֣ן יְשִׁית֑וּהוּ
גַּם־בְּ֝רָכ֗וֹת יַעְטֶ֥ה מוֹרֶֽה׃
They pass in the Valley of Tears –
as a spring-place they think of it, yes,
blessed with the coverage of early rain.
יֵ֭לְכוּ מֵחַ֣יִל אֶל־חָ֑יִל
יֵרָאֶ֖ה אֶל־אֱלֹהִ֣ים בְּצִיּֽוֹן׃
They go from strength to strength,
to be seen to God in Zion.
יְהֹ֘וָ֤ה אֱלֹהִ֣ים צְ֭בָאוֹת
שִׁמְעָ֣ה תְפִלָּתִ֑י
הַאֲזִ֨ינָה אֱלֹהֵ֖י יַעֲקֹ֣ב סֶֽלָה׃
O Cause God of Multitudes,
please hear my prayer,
give ear, God of Jacob – Selah.
מָ֭גִנֵּנוּ רְאֵ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֑ים
וְ֝הַבֵּ֗ט פְּנֵ֣י מְשִׁיחֶֽךָ׃
Behold our shield, God,
and look upon the face of Your anointed one.
כִּ֤י טֽוֹב־י֥וֹם בַּחֲצֵרֶ֗יךָ מֵ֫אָ֥לֶף
בָּחַ֗רְתִּי הִ֭סְתּוֹפֵף בְּבֵ֣ית אֱלֹהַ֑י
מִ֝דּ֗וּר בְּאׇהֳלֵי־רֶֽשַׁע׃
For better one day in Your courts than a thousand –
I would choose to stand at the door of the house of my God
than dwell a while in the tents of the evil.
כִּ֤י שֶׁ֨מֶשׁ ׀ וּמָגֵן֮ יְהֹוָ֢ה אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים
חֵ֣ן וְ֭כָבוֹד יִתֵּ֣ן יְהֹוָ֑ה
לֹ֥א יִמְנַע־ט֗֝וֹב
לַֽהֹלְכִ֥ים בְּתָמִֽים׃
For sun and shield is the Cause God;
the Cause bestows grace and glory;
not withholding good
from those who go purely.

אַֽשְׁרֵ֥י אָ֝דָ֗ם בֹּטֵ֥חַ בָּֽךְ׃

happy is the person who trusts in You.

מִזְמ֗וֹר לְדָ֫וִ֥ד
A psalm of David.
יְהֹוָ֣ה קְ֭רָאתִיךָ ח֣וּשָׁה לִּ֑י
הַאֲזִ֥ינָה ק֝וֹלִ֗י בְּקׇרְאִי־לָֽךְ׃
O Cause, I call you – listen to me,
give ear to my voice as I call You.
תִּכּ֤וֹן תְּפִלָּתִ֣י קְטֹ֣רֶת לְפָנֶ֑יךָ
מַֽשְׂאַ֥ת כַּ֝פַּ֗י מִנְחַת־עָֽרֶב׃
Take my prayer as incense before You,
my upraised hands as a minḥah of the evening.
שִׁיתָ֣ה יְ֭הֹוָה שׇׁמְרָ֣ה לְפִ֑י
נִ֝צְּרָ֗ה עַל־דַּ֥ל שְׂפָתָֽי׃
Set, O Cause, a guard for my mouth,
a watch at the door of my lips.
אַל־תַּט־לִבִּ֨י לְדָבָ֪ר ׀ רָ֡ע
לְהִתְע֘וֹלֵ֤ל עֲלִל֨וֹת ׀ בְּרֶ֗שַׁע
אֶת־אִישִׁ֥ים פֹּעֲלֵי־אָ֑וֶן
וּבַל־אֶ֝לְחַ֗ם בְּמַנְעַמֵּיהֶֽם׃
Let my heart not turn to a thing of evil,
to do deeds of evil
with persons who act iniquitously;
let me not consume their delicacies.
יֶ֥הֶלְמֵֽנִי צַדִּ֨יק ׀ חֶ֡סֶד וְֽיוֹכִיחֵ֗נִי
שֶׁ֣מֶן רֹ֭אשׁ אַל־יָנִ֣י רֹאשִׁ֑י
כִּי־ע֥וֹד וּ֝תְפִלָּתִ֗י בְּרָעוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
Let the faithful righteous be close to me, may he reprove me,
may my head have oil, not a head full of wine.
Still, and my prayers against their evils.
נִשְׁמְט֣וּ בִֽידֵי־סֶ֭לַע שֹׁפְטֵיהֶ֑ם
וְשָׁמְע֥וּ אֲ֝מָרַ֗י כִּ֣י נָעֵֽמוּ׃
May their judges fall on the rock,
but hear my speeches, for they are sweet.
כְּמ֤וֹ פֹלֵ֣חַ וּבֹקֵ֣עַ בָּאָ֑רֶץ
נִפְזְר֥וּ עֲ֝צָמֵ֗ינוּ לְפִ֣י שְׁאֽוֹל׃
As the land is cleft and broken,
our bones are scattered to the mouth of the Underworld.
כִּ֤י אֵלֶ֨יךָ ׀ יֱהֹוִ֣ה אֲדֹנָ֣י עֵינָ֑י
בְּכָ֥ה חָ֝סִ֗יתִי אַל־תְּעַ֥ר נַפְשִֽׁי׃
For my eyes are upon You, O Cause my Master;
in You I seek refuge, do not endanger my very self!
שׇׁמְרֵ֗נִי מִ֣ידֵי פַ֭ח יָ֣קְשׁוּ לִ֑י
וּ֝מֹקְשׁ֗וֹת פֹּ֣עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃
Guard me from the hands of the trap laid for me,
and from the snares of those who do iniquity.
יִפְּל֣וּ בְמַכְמֹרָ֣יו רְשָׁעִ֑ים
יַ֥חַד אָ֝נֹכִ֗י עַֽד־אֶעֱבֽוֹר׃
Let they fall in their own evil nets,

מַשְׂכִּ֥יל לְדָוִ֑ד
בִּֽהְיוֹת֖וֹ בַמְּעָרָ֣ה תְפִלָּֽה׃
A thoughtful-song of David,
as he was in the cave – a prayer.
ק֭וֹלִי אֶל־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֶזְעָ֑ק
ק֝וֹלִ֗י אֶל־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֶתְחַנָּֽן׃
My voice to the Cause cries out,
my voice to the Cause begs for mercy.
אֶשְׁפֹּ֣ךְ לְפָנָ֣יו שִׂיחִ֑י
צָ֝רָתִ֗י לְפָנָ֥יו אַגִּֽיד׃
I pour out my meditations before God,
before God I tell my troubles.
בְּהִתְעַטֵּ֬ף עָלַ֨י ׀ רוּחִ֗י
וְאַתָּה֮ יָדַ֢עְתָּ נְֽתִיבָ֫תִ֥י
בְּאֹֽרַח־ז֥וּ אֲהַלֵּ֑ךְ
טָמְנ֖וּ פַ֣ח לִֽי׃
When my breath fails within me,
and You know my ways –
on this path I walk
they have set up a trap for me!
הַבֵּ֤יט יָמִ֨ין ׀ וּרְאֵה֮
וְאֵֽין־לִ֢י מַ֫כִּ֥יר
אָבַ֣ד מָנ֣וֹס מִמֶּ֑נִּי
אֵ֖ין דּוֹרֵ֣שׁ לְנַפְשִֽׁי׃
Look at my right and see,
and I have none who I know;
my refuge is lost from me,
there is none who will seek me out.
זָעַ֥קְתִּי אֵלֶ֗יךָ יְהֹ֫וָ֥ה
אָ֭מַרְתִּי אַתָּ֣ה מַחְסִ֑י
חֶ֝לְקִ֗י בְּאֶ֣רֶץ הַחַיִּֽים׃
I cry to You, Cause;
I say, You are my refuge,
my portion in the land of the living.
הַקְשִׁ֤יבָה ׀ אֶֽל־רִנָּתִי֮
מְאֹ֥ד הַצִּילֵ֥נִי מֵרֹדְפַ֑י
כִּ֖י אָמְצ֣וּ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃
Listen to my shout,
for I have been brought very low;
rescue me from my pursuers,
for they are stronger than me.
ה֘וֹצִ֤יאָה מִמַּסְגֵּ֨ר ׀ נַפְשִׁי֮
לְהוֹד֢וֹת אֶת־שְׁ֫מֶ֥ךָ
בִּ֭י יַכְתִּ֣רוּ צַדִּיקִ֑ים
כִּ֖י תִגְמֹ֣ל עָלָֽי׃
Free me from this spirit-prison,
that I may praise Your name.

יְהֹוָ֤ה ׀ שְׁמַ֬ע תְּפִלָּתִ֗י
הַאֲזִ֥ינָה אֶל־תַּחֲנוּנַ֑י
בֶּאֱמֻנָֽתְךָ֥ עֲ֝נֵ֗נִי בְּצִדְקָתֶֽךָ׃
O Cause, hear my prayer,
give ear to my petition in Your faithfulness;
answer in Your righteousness.
וְאַל־תָּב֣וֹא בְ֭מִשְׁפָּט אֶת־עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ
כִּ֤י לֹֽא־יִצְדַּ֖ק לְפָנֶ֣יךָ כׇל־חָֽי׃
Do not come to judgement with Your servant,
for before You nothing that lives can be righteous.
כִּ֥י רָ֘דַ֤ף אוֹיֵ֨ב ׀ נַפְשִׁ֗י
דִּכָּ֣א לָ֭אָרֶץ חַיָּתִ֑י

For my enemy pursued my being,
he crushed my life to the ground,
he made me live in darkness

בְּ֝תוֹכִ֗י יִשְׁתּוֹמֵ֥ם לִבִּֽי׃
My breath failed within me,
my heart within me was horrified.
זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי יָמִ֨ים ׀ מִקֶּ֗דֶם
הָגִ֥יתִי בְכׇל־פׇּעֳלֶ֑ךָ
בְּֽמַעֲשֵׂ֖ה יָדֶ֣יךָ
I remembered the days of yore,
I told all Your deeds,
recounted the work of Your hands.
פֵּרַ֣שְׂתִּי יָדַ֣י אֵלֶ֑יךָ
נַפְשִׁ֓י ׀ כְּאֶרֶץ־עֲיֵפָ֖ה לְךָ֣ סֶֽלָה׃
I stretched out my hands to You;
my being longs like thirsty earth for You – Selah.
מַ֘הֵ֤ר עֲנֵ֨נִי ׀ יְהֹוָה֮
כָּלְתָ֢ה ר֫וּחִ֥י
אַל־תַּסְתֵּ֣ר פָּנֶ֣יךָ מִמֶּ֑נִּי
וְ֝נִמְשַׁ֗לְתִּי עִם־יֹ֥רְדֵי בֽוֹר׃
Quickly, answer me, Cause!
My breath fades!
Do not hide Your Face from me,
or I will be as if in those low in the Pit.
הַשְׁמִ֘יעֵ֤נִי בַבֹּ֨קֶר ׀ חַסְדֶּךָ֮
כִּֽי־בְךָ֢ בָ֫טָ֥חְתִּי
הוֹדִיעֵ֗נִי דֶּֽרֶךְ־ז֥וּ אֵלֵ֑ךְ

for in You I trust;

Blessed is the Cause my Rock,
who teaches my hands for battle,

O Cause, what are humanity that You know them,
mortal people that You think of them?
אָ֭דָם לַהֶ֣בֶל דָּמָ֑ה

A human is as a breath,
one’s days like a passing shadow.
יְ֭הֹוָה הַט־שָׁמֶ֣יךָ וְתֵרֵ֑ד

O Cause, bend down Your sky and descend,
touch the mountains so they smoke.
בְּר֣וֹק בָּ֭רָק וּתְפִיצֵ֑ם
שְׁלַ֥ח חִ֝צֶּ֗יךָ וּתְהֻמֵּֽם׃
Flash lightning and scatter them,
send Your arrows and confuse them.

פְּצֵ֣נִי וְ֭הַצִּילֵנִי מִמַּ֣יִם רַבִּ֑ים

אֲשֶׁ֣ר פִּ֭יהֶם דִּבֶּר־שָׁ֑וְא

Send Your hand from high,
free me and save me from the great waters,
from the hand of the stranger’s sons,
whose mouths speak lies
and whose hands vow falsely.

The One who gives victory to kings,

Free me, save me
from the hand of the stranger’s sons,

For our children are like young trees

צֹאונֵ֣נוּ מַ֭אֲלִיפוֹת

Our granaries are full,
suppling sorts, all sorts;
our flocks are thousands,
tens of thousands in our fields.
אַלּוּפֵ֗ינוּ מְֽסֻבָּ֫לִ֥ים
אֵֽין־פֶּ֭רֶץ וְאֵ֣ין יוֹצֵ֑את
וְאֵ֥ין צְ֝וָחָ֗ה בִּרְחֹבֹתֵֽינוּ׃
Our cattle are enduring –
there is no breaching, no escaping,
no crying in our streets.
אַשְׁרֵ֣י הָ֭עָם שֶׁכָּ֣כָה לּ֑וֹ
אַֽשְׁרֵ֥י הָ֝עָ֗ם שֱׁיְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהָֽיו׃
Happy is the people who have it thus,

goodness is for the people for whom the Master is their God.

Psalms 145
תְּהִלָּ֗ה לְדָ֫וִ֥ד
A psalm of David.
אֲרוֹמִמְךָ֣ אֱלוֹהַ֣י הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ
וַאֲבָרְכָ֥ה שִׁ֝מְךָ֗ לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃
א I will extol You, my God, the Ruler,
and I will bless Your name for ever and ever.
בְּכָל־י֥וֹם אֲבָֽרְכֶ֑ךָּ
וַאֲהַֽלְלָ֥ה שִׁ֝מְךָ֗ לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃
ב Every day I will bless You,
and I will acclaimed Your name forever and ever.
גָּ֘ד֤וֹל יְהֹוָ֣ה וּמְהֻלָּ֣ל מְאֹ֑ד
וְ֝לִגְדֻלָּת֗וֹ אֵ֣ין חֵֽקֶר׃
ג Great is the Cause and much acclaimed,
whose greatness is unfathomable.
דּ֣וֹר לְ֭דוֹר יְשַׁבַּ֣ח מַעֲשֶׂ֑יךָ
וּגְב֖וּרֹתֶ֣יךָ יַגִּֽידוּ׃
ד Generation to generation will laud Your works,
and Your greatness they will tell.
הֲ֭דַר כְּב֣וֹד הוֹדֶ֑ךָ
וְדִבְרֵ֖י נִפְלְאֹתֶ֣יךָ אָשִֽׂיחָה׃
ה The majestic glory of Your splendor
and Your wondrousness let me mediate on.
וֶעֱז֣וּז נֽוֹרְאֹתֶ֣יךָ יֹאמֵ֑רוּ
וגדלותיך וּגְדֻלָּתְךָ֥ אֲסַפְּרֶֽנָּה׃
ו Of your mighty deeds people will speak,
and I will retell Your greatness.
זֵ֣כֶר רַב־טוּבְךָ֣ יַבִּ֑יעוּ
וְצִדְקָתְךָ֥ יְרַנֵּֽנוּ׃
ז Remembering Your great goodness they will celebrate,
and will shout out of Your righteousness.
חַנּ֣וּן וְרַח֣וּם יְהֹוָ֑ה
אֶ֥רֶךְ אַ֝פַּ֗יִם וּגְדׇל־חָֽסֶד׃
ח The Cause is Merciful and Compassionate,
Slow to Anger and Vast in Kindness.
טוֹב־יְהֹוָ֥ה לַכֹּ֑ל
וְ֝רַחֲמָ֗יו עַל־כׇּל־מַעֲשָֽׂיו׃
ט The Cause is good to all,
and merciful to all Divine works.
יוֹד֣וּךָ יְ֭הֹוָה כׇּל־מַעֲשֶׂ֑יךָ
וַ֝חֲסִידֶ֗יךָ יְבָרְכֽוּכָה׃
י All Your works, O Cause, will praise You,
and Your faithful ones will bless You.
כְּב֣וֹד מַלְכוּתְךָ֣ יֹאמֵ֑רוּ
וּגְבוּרָתְךָ֥ יְדַבֵּֽרוּ׃
כ Of Your glorious majesty they will talk,
and of Your might they will speak.
לְהוֹדִ֤יעַ ׀ לִבְנֵ֣י הָ֭אָדָם גְּבוּרֹתָ֑יו
וּ֝כְב֗וֹד הֲדַ֣ר מַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃
ל Thus they will make known to people Your might,
and the glorious majesty of Your sovereignty.
מַֽלְכוּתְךָ֗ מַלְכ֥וּת כׇּל־עֹלָמִ֑ים
וּ֝מֶֽמְשַׁלְתְּךָ֗ בְּכׇל־דּ֥וֹר וָדֹֽר׃
מ Your sovereignty is a sovereignty eternal,
and Your dominion is for generation upon generation.
סוֹמֵ֣ךְ יְ֭הֹוָה לְכׇל־הַנֹּפְלִ֑ים
וְ֝זוֹקֵ֗ף לְכׇל־הַכְּפוּפִֽים׃
ס The Cause supports those who fall,
and straightens the bent.
עֵֽינֵי־כֹ֭ל אֵלֶ֣יךָ יְשַׂבֵּ֑רוּ
וְאַתָּ֤ה נֽוֹתֵן־לָהֶ֖ם אֶת־אׇכְלָ֣ם בְּעִתּֽוֹ׃
ע The eyes of all turn to You and expect,
and You give them their foot at its time.
פּוֹתֵ֥חַ אֶת־יָדֶ֑ךָ
וּמַשְׂבִּ֖יעַ לְכׇל־חַ֣י רָצֽוֹן׃
פ You open Your hand,
and satiate all life as it desires.
צַדִּ֣יק יְ֭הֹוָה בְּכׇל־דְּרָכָ֑יו
וְ֝חָסִ֗יד בְּכׇל־מַעֲשָֽׂיו׃
צ Righteous is the Cause in all ways,
and faithful in all works.
קָר֣וֹב יְ֭הֹוָה לְכׇל־קֹרְאָ֑יו
לְכֹ֤ל אֲשֶׁ֖ר יִקְרָאֻ֣הוּ בֶֽאֱמֶֽת׃
ק Near is the Cause to all who call,
to all who call in truth.
רְצוֹן־יְרֵאָ֥יו יַעֲשֶׂ֑ה
וְֽאֶת־שַׁוְעָתָ֥ם יִ֝שְׁמַ֗ע וְיוֹשִׁיעֵֽם׃
ר The desires of those who are in awe God does;
God hears their cry and saves them.
שׁוֹמֵ֣ר יְ֭הֹוָה אֶת־כׇּל־אֹהֲבָ֑יו
וְאֵ֖ת כׇּל־הָרְשָׁעִ֣ים יַשְׁמִֽיד׃
ש The Cause watches over all those with love of God,
and will destroy all the wicked.
תְּהִלַּ֥ת יְהֹוָ֗ה יְֽדַבֶּ֫ר פִּ֥י
וִיבָרֵ֣ךְ כׇּל־בָּ֭שָׂר שֵׁ֥ם קׇדְשׁ֗וֹ לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃
ת Praise of the Cause my mouth will utter,
and all flesh shall bless the Holy Name forever and ever.

Psalms 115:18 and its targum
וַאֲנַ֤חְנוּ ׀ נְבָ֘רֵ֤ךְ יָ֗הּ
מֵעַתָּ֥ה וְעַד־עוֹלָ֗ם
And we, we bless Yah,
from now to forever,
hal’lu Yah!
וַאֲנַ֤חְנָא ׀ נְבָ֘רֵ֤ךְ יָ֗הּ
מִן־הַ֥שְׁתָּא וְעַד־עַ֗לְמָא
And we bless Yah
from now on to forever,
praise God!
