As Shabbat comes into our home
As we set the festive table
May a prayer rise from our hearts –
The gift of the ready dough.
Help us find a way to set aside
A little of our time, our skills, and our means,
May we learn to offer our own words –
Honest and uncovered.
Let us interpret the gestures of others
Positively and generously
May all sorry, pain, and worry
Be drawn away from us.
Let us set aside the days that have gone
Leaving them behind with a smile
May we spread joyfully over our home
A comforting and blessed Shabbat day
Set the Sukkah of Shalom over us
Mercy, life, and peace
May a blessing may be placed on our home –
A dream drawn from our hearts.
