Isaac Leo Lyon (also, Isaac Aryeh Lyons; 1787-1850), born in Portsmouth, England, was an educator and translator. As a teacher, he traveled to Australia with his wife Maria in 1809 on the "Aeolis," a ship transporting convicts. Maria died en route. Isaac taught in New South Wales before returning to England in 1812 (on the Mistral) and remarrying Hannah Levi (1789-1864) in 1822. to His parents were Rabbi Solomon Lyon of Cambridge and Rachel Lyon (née Hart).
