Psalms 4, a mizmor of David (translated by Isaac Gantwerk Mayer)

Note: “The CAUSE” is used to translate the Divine Name YHVH, based on the philosophical idea of God as the Prime Mover and on the interpretation of the Name as a causative form of the copula – “causes to be.”

1 For the leader,
with music;
a psalm
of David.

2 When I call, answer me,
God of my rightoeusness!
In stress You released me;
have mercy and hear my prayer!
3 Mortal men,
how long will My glory be mocked;
will you love nothingness,
seek out deceit? Selah.
4 And know that the CAUSE distinguishes
the faithful to THEM,
the CAUSE will hear
when I call THEM.
5 Tremble, and do not sin;
say it in your hearts
on your bed,
and be silent. Selah.
6 Offer righteous sacrifices

and trust in the CAUSE.
7 Many say,
‘Who will see us good?’
Lift upon us the light of Your Face,
the CAUSE.
8 You put joy in my heart,

when their grain and their wine increase.
9 In peace, as one,
let me lay down that I may sleep;
for you the CAUSE alone
let me dwell securely!
