Children’s Prayerbooks

This is an archive of siddurim prepared just for children of all ages to accustom them to the practice of regular prayer and to some of the most familiar prayers and intentions prior to their initiation to the full matbéa of prayer sometime before their bnei mitsvah. These children's prayerbooks and services often markedly differ based on the religious ideology and pedagogical choices of their authors, and may content resources of interest to even adult practitioners.

📖 (רפורמי) The Children’s Service for Use in Religious Schools, compiled by Rabbi J. Leonard Levy (1902/1904)

The Children’s Service for Use in Religious Schools (1902) is Rabbi J. Leonard Levy’s prayerbook compiled for the religious school at Congregation Rodeph Shalom, a Reform movement synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The siddur is comprised of four children’s services and twenty supplemental services for special days on the calendar. A hymnal comprises a third section. This is the second revised edition of the prayerbook, printed in 1904, containing additional services and hymns.
