Berlin Pride Celebration

Berlin Pride Celebration

This is an archive of prayers and song composed for, or relevant to, the Berlin Pride Celebration (a/k/a “Christopher Street Day Berlin” or CSD). The CSD is held in memory of the Stonewall Riots, the first big uprising of LGBTQ people against police assaults on June 27, 1969 on Christopher Street, in Greenwich Village, New York City. First celebrated in West Berlin in 1972, the event has been held anually since 1979 and is one of the largest gay and lesbian organized events in Germany and one of the biggest in Europe. Held in the second half of July in Berlin, the day features a pride parade and festival celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) people, celebrating their pride in Gay and Lesbian Culture and demonstrating for equal rights and equal treatment in Germany and around the world.
