— for those crafting their own prayerbooks and sharing the content of their practice
This is an archive of prayers and song composed for, or relevant to, the meaning, commemoration, and celebration of Pride Day, internationally. Originally, “Christopher Street Liberation Day”, Pride Day commemorates the anniversary of the Stonewall riots instigated on Saturday, June 28, 1969, following a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar at 43 Christopher Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York City. In 1970, the first Gay Pride parades took place in Chicago and New York City and the event grew in concert with the LGBT rights movement. By 1972, Gay Pride marches spread nationally to Boston, Dallas, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Buffalo, Detroit, Washington DC, Miami, Philadelphia, ands San Francisco — and internationally to Brighton, London, Paris, West Berlin, and Stockholm.
