For the miracles
and the relief
and the mighty acts
and the redemption
and the wonders
you did for us and our ancestors
in those days
and in this time

In the days of our ancestors,
we were exiled from our land
and our land was ruined,
once and then again.
In the days of the Second Temple,
as the end was approaching, on that difficult day
when the walls of our holy city were breached,
And for more than two thousand years,
we fasted and cried on that day,
remembering our fate.

And now, in our generation,
you shined your light on your people, Yisra’el
And we have merited having the dispersed of Yisra’el
gathered from around the world
to the beloved land of your inheritance
to work its soil,
to rebuild it from its ruins
and to establish it from its desolation.
We even returned to Yerushalayim our holy city
and rebuilt its glory.

We threw the yoke of the Gentile nations off our necks
and we were privileged to establish the State of Israel,
the beginning of our growing redemption.
We were as dreamers,
with mouths full of poetry and singing–
indeed, our grief has truly been turned into joy,
in fulfillment of the words spoken by Zekharyah your prophet:
“Thus said YHVH Tsevaöt:
‘The fast of the fourth month,
and the fast of fifth month,
and the fast of the seventh month,
and the fast of the tenth month,
will become for the House of Yehudah,
gladness and joy —
festive times!
and Truth and Peace you shall love.’”^[1] Zechariah 8:19. 

Our Father in Heaven, Rock of Yisra’el and its redeemer,
Please help all the factions of your people
understand and recognize the great miracle
and know that this is no longer a time of mourning
but rather a time of joy
and of giving thanks to your Great Name.
