Kaparōt

Kaparōt

Kaparot is a lovely Ashkenazi Jewish custom when it is aligned with the mitsvah of tsar baalei ḥayyim (not causing unnecessary harm to a living creature). Why invite extra harsh judgement during the Aseret Yemei Teshuvah (Ten Days of Repentance) for being the cause of unnecessary stress or injury to an animal‽!? Use a bag of money dedicated for tsedaqah instead!
