This is an archive of prayers composed for, or relevant to, Nakba Day (Arabic: يوم النكبة Yawm an-Nakba, meaning “Day of the Catastrophe”), an annual day of mourning for the displacement of Palestinian Arabs following the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948. The day, inaugurated by Yasser Arafat in 1998, is generally commemorated annually on 15 May (the day after David ben Gurion officially read the Proclamation of the Establishment of the State of Israel).
