This prayer, written for the Spanish and Portuguese Jews’ Congregation of London in the mid-19th century, is stated by the bar mitsvah prior to his ‘aliya blessing over the Torah. In the early 2010s, Rabbi Israel Elia ז״ל introduced the custom that a bat mitsvah recites a feminine form (with words marked in blue replaced by words marked in red) prior to her derasha. (In egalitarian communities where a bat mitsvah recieves an ‘aliyah as well, she may recite it prior to the ‘aliya blessing as well.) “A Thanksgiving in Commemoration of Moses Maimonides” with its accompanying Hashkabah is found in the Service of Praise and Thanksgiving to Commemorate the 800th Anniversary of the Birth of Moses Maimonides prepared by Bevis Marks Synagogue in London on 27 May 1935. Meyer (1930-1993). Earlier prayerbooks represented the Ashkenazi liturgical tradition. Together with its companion volume for Yom Kippur, they are the only prayerbooks prepared for Sepharadi congreations in the Conservative movement. The Hebrew sourcetext is based primarily on the S&P siddurim compiled and translated by Rabbi Dr. Savid de Sola Pool. Meyer (1930-1993). The Hebrew sourcetext is based primarily on the S&P siddurim compiled and translated by Rabbi Dr. David de Sola Pool. Other prayerbooks prepared with the Conservative movement represented mainly the Ashkenazi liturgical tradition. This maḥzor and its companion volume for Rosh haShanah are the only prayerbooks prepared for Sefaradi congregations by Conservative movement institutions (that we know of). First published in 2006, סִידּוּר לִימּוּד Siddúr Limmúd, vol. 1: Friday night is a traditional-egalitarian, multilingual Hebrew-English-Spanish Friday night “Learning Siddur” with transliterations, translations, instructions and explanations by the Norwegian-Jewish scholar, Olve Utne, ז״ל (1965–2024).
