And for the miracles,
and for the salvation, and for the mighty deeds, and for the victories, and for the battles which You performed for our forefathers in those days, at this time. |
At the dawn of our statehood and the independence of our nation
The heart of our land, our city of joy, dwelt in isolation Those who longed for her stones recounted her praises Her finest bards were as a harp to her songs Through the crevices Your children peeked To sate their eyes with the remnants of Your lofty Temple |
Nations bestirred and clamored,
rose up against us to destroy us Facing them, Your sons girded strength in their legions Your covenant with our forefathers prevailed and endured |
You entrusted Your holy mount into our hands
And You opened wide the gates of Shalem The paths to Zion rang out with the dancing of Your celebrants And You returned the steps of our feet to Your footstool. |
Behold! Our eyes observe Your countenance radiating
Across the courtyards of Your place of rest Behold! Our ears perceive sounds of happiness and rejoicing In the streets of Your choice inheritance |
E’er will we raise her eternal glory
To our utmost rejoicing |
