אֱלֹהֵינוּ שֶׁבַּשָּׁמַיִם,
חַזֵּק אֶת יְדֵי חַיָּלֵינוּ וְחַיָּלוֹתֵינוּ
וְאַנְשֵׁי כּוֹחוֹת הַבִּטָּחוֹן
הָעוֹמְדִים עַל מִשְׁמַר אַרְצֵנוּ
בִּפְנֵי ”גּוֹי עַז פָּנִים,
אֲשֶׁר לֹא יִשָּׂא פָנִים לְזָקֵן
וְנַעַר לֹא יָחֹן“ (דברים כח:נ).

Our God in Heaven,
Strengthen our men and women soldiers
and security forces,
standing guard over our land
in the face of “A nation of fierce countenance,
that shall not regard the person of the old,
nor show favor to the young” (Deuteronomy 28:50).

תֵּן בָּהֶם עֹז הָרוּחַ,
הַתְּבוּנָה וְהַכֹּחַ
לְהַשְׁמִיד לַהֲרֹג
וּלְאַבֵּד אֶת אוֹיְבֵינוּ
אֲשֶׁר ”מַעֲשֵׂיהֶם מַעֲשֵׂי־אָוֶן
וּפֹעַל חָמָס בְּכַפֵּיהֶם“ (ישעיה נט:ו).

Grant them the spirit of courage,
imbue them with the understanding and strength
to destroy, slay
and cause to perish our enemies
whose “works are works of iniquity,
and the act of violence is in their hands” (Isaiah 59:6).

שְׁמֹר אוֹתָם
מִכָּל צָרָה וְצוּקָה
אוֹיֵב וָצָר,
סַכָּנָה וּפֶגַע רַע,
וַהֲשִׁיבֵם מְהֵרָה לְבָתֵּינוּ
שְׁלֵמִים בְּגוּפָם וּבְנַפְשָׁם,
וִיקֻיַּם בָּהֶם וּבָנוּ מִקְרָא
שֶׁכָּתוּב ”לֹא־יִשָּׁמַע עוֹד חָמָס בְּאַרְצֵךְ
שֹׁד וָשֶׁבֶר בִּגְבוּלָיִךְ,
וְקָרָאת יְשׁוּעָה חוֹמֹתַיִךְ
וּשְׁעָרַיִךְ תְּהִלָּה“ (ישעיה ס:יח).

Guard and preserve them
from all trouble and distress,
every enemy and sorrow,
from all danger and serious injury,
and return them swiftly to our homes,
safe and sound in mind and body.
May the words of the Bible be fulfilled through them and through us,
as is written, “Violence (ḥamas) shall no more be heard in your land,
desolation nor destruction within your borders;
but you shall call your walls Salvation,
and your gates Praise” (Isaiah 60:18).

הַנְחִילֵם אֱלֹהֵינוּ
יְשׁוּעָה וַעֲטֶרֶת נִצָּחוֹן תְּעַטְּרֵם,
וְנָתַתָּ שָׁלוֹם בָּאָרֶץ.
|
Grant them, our God,
salvation and crown them with victory,
for You have bestowed Peace on your Land.
|
|
הָבֵא נֶחָמָה לִשְׁבוּרֵי לֵב
אֲשֶׁר יַקִּירֵיהֶם נוֹרוּ
וְנִרְצְחוּ כְּצֹאן טִבְחָה
בִּידֵי בְּנֵי עַוְלָה,
וּלְכָל מִשְׁפְּחוֹת הַנּוֹפְלִים בַּמַּעֲרָכָה,
כַּכָּתוּב: ”וְנִחַמְתִּים
וְשִׂמַּחְתִּים מִיגוֹנָם“ (ירמיה לא:יב).

Have mercy upon the broken-hearted
whose loved ones were shot
and murdered like sheep to slaughter
by the hands of sons of evil,
and upon all the families of those who have fallen in this conflict,
as is written “And I will comfort them
and make them rejoice from their sorrow” (Jeremiah 31:12).

וִיהִי רָצוֹן
שֶׁיִּוָּדַע בִּמְהֵרָה גּוֹרַל הַנֶּעֱדָרִים
וְיָשׁוּבוּ כָּל שְׁבוּיֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, הַחֲטוּפִים וְהַנֶּעֱדָרִים
לְבֵית יַקִּירֵיהֶם בִּמְהֵרָה, שְׁלֵמִים בְּגוּף וּבְנֶפֶשׁ,
כַּכָּתוּב ”לִקְרֹא לִשְׁבוּיִם דְּרוֹר“ (ישעיה ס:א)
”וְשָׁבוּ בָנִים לִגְבוּלָם“ (ירמיה לא:יז),
וְנֹאמַר: אָמֵן.
|
May it be Your will
that the fate of the missing shall soon be known
and that all the captives of Israel, hostages and missing,
shall return home to their loved ones speedily, sound in body and mind,
as is written: “to proclaim liberty to the captives” (Isaiah 61:1)
“and your children shall return to their borders” (Jeremiah 31:17).
