God,
please be with the people of Washington DC. |
|
Protect the most vulnerable,
give them the shelter of your peace. Remind them that they are not alone, that we are with them. |
|
Bring us a world
of everlasting love and togetherness. A world free from authoritarianism, where there are no police, no weapons, no jails, no borders, no hatred. |
|
Make this prayer
like a pebble in water, a ripple of holiness that reaches across this moment, across this table, this home, this city, and this world. |
|
Hear us,
so that we may heal our brokenness seven generations back and seven generations forward. Amen. |
This prayer, by Madeline Peltz, was offered after the issuance of the Executive Order entitled “Declaring a Crime Emergency in the District of Columbia” on 11 August 2025.
