My God, our enemies are [human beings] “your handiwork, drowning in the sea.”^[2] as with the Egyptians in the Song of the Sea (Exodus 15:1-19). But this is not the time for a song [like the Shirat haYam]. While a child can still smile, they will remember their father’s gaze before their separation; while a mother can still teach them [we pray]: do not let anger into a heart that hurts so much — by the power of Your right hand, pull them out of the waters of malice, anger and rage.
הֲרֵי לֹא בָּאנוּ לְזֶה הָעוֹלָם לַהֲרֹג וְלִנְקֹם בְּאוֹיְבֵנוּ וּבִדְמָעוֹת מְפַלְּחוֹת נִשְׁפַּךְ עַל אַרְצֵנוּ!	Адже не для того прийшли ми у світ, щоб вбивати та ворогу мстити. Так, ворожа кров проливається, проте серце болить та сльози наші рясні. Бо ми прагнемо не цього… а лиш захистити свою Батьківщину!	This is not why we came into the world: to kill and take vengeance upon the enemy. Yes, enemy blood is shed, but our hearts ache and our tears are abundant because we do not want this… only to protect our Motherland!
וּבְיוֹם יִשָּׂא גוֹי אֶל־גּוֹי חֶרֶב גַּם תְּפִלָּה בְּלִבּוֹ הוּא יִשָּׂא׃ נָא תִּשְׁמֹר מֵאֵיבָה אֶת נַפְשֵׁנוּ בְּצַלְמְךָ נוֹצַרְנוּ כֻּלָּם.	Коли народ на народ підніме меч — хай серця взносять молитву: Вбережи наші душі від зла, бо за образом Божим Ти створив нас усіх.	When nations raise their swords against nations — let their hearts offer a prayer: Save our souls from evil, because in the image of God You created us all.

Miriam Klimova’s prayer “Молитва про захист наших сердець від ненависті” תפילה לשמירה על ליבנו משנאה (בזמן המלחמה) (Prayer to Protect Our Hearts from Hatred in Wartime), in the context of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, was first shared in Hebrew and Ukrainian via her Facebook page. She adds: “בְּמָקוֹם שֶׁאֵין אֲנָשִׁים, הִשְׁתַּדֵּל לִהְיוֹת אִישׁ” – פרקי אבות. “Навіть там, де немає людей, постарайся бути людиною” – Піркей Авот” (Where there are no moral human beings, be one. – Mishnah Avot 2.6). Find also the teaching of Shmuel haQatan in Mishnah Avot 4:19 and that of Rebbi Yehoshua ben Levi and Rebbi Yehanan in Megillah 10b.
