בהודיה ובפליאה, הריני מקבל עלי את מצוות הבורא “וְשָׂמַחְתָּ בְכָל־הַטּוֹב אֲשֶׁר נָתַן־לְךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ”. |
With gratitude and wonder, I duly take upon myself the commandment of the Creator “And you shall rejoice in all the good things YHVH your God has given to you.” (Deuteronomy 26:11) |

This is a “Blessing for the human creation” composed by Rabbi Esteban Gottfried for a mi sheberakh delivered after the Torah reading of twin siblings celebrating their bar and bat mitsvah. Both children came into this world through medical intervention, egg donation, and surrogate pregnancy. “It was a really moving ceremony,” said Rabbi Gottfried, “it is very rare that the parents are in touch with the egg donor and pregnancy surrogate (from the US and Ukraine) thirteen years later, and they all celebrate together….After their ascent to the Torah, I asked the parents together with the donor and the surrogate to take the stage and greet them. I share here (with their approval) the blessing of the “Human Creation.” The prayer was shared via Rabbi Gottfried’s Facebook page along with the following details in Hebrew:
זכות גדולה היא ללוות משפחות לקראת טקסי בר ובת מצווה. להיות חלק ברגעים המשמעותיים, הרגשיים, הננצרים לעד אצל המשפחות. לכל משפחה סיפור ייחודי, ונוגע. אבל השבוע היה אירוע משפחתי יוצא מגדר הרגיל. את אבינועם ואבישי Avishay Greenfield Caspi, זוג נשוי מקסים ומיוחד, הכרתי כבר לפני שנים כשערכתי את בר המצווה של בנם הבכור. (ואפילו עוד לפני). הפעם היה תורם של דור ועדן, התאומים המקסימים. המסע של אבינועם ואבישי להורות הוא מעורר השראה. דרך תרומת ביצית ופונדקאות, וליווי רפואי, הם הביאו לעולם את שני הילדים המקסימים, כשכל אחד מהאבות הוא האב הביולוגי של אחד מהם. ואבישי ואבינועם כמו שהם, נשארו בקשר קרוב הן עם תורמת הביצית והן עם האם הפונדקאית (שתיהן מתגוררות בחו”ל). ושתיהן הגיעו לחגוג אתם את הבר ובת מצווה שלהם.לאחר עלייתם לתורה, ביקשתי מההורים יחד עם התורמת והפונדקאית לעלות לבמה ולברך אותם. אני משתף כאן (באישורם) את ברכת “יוצר האדם” שבעזרתה ניסיתי לדייק את ההתרגשות של המעמד:
