In the thought of Thy gracious presence,
our God and Father,
we consecrate this week
and ourselves
to the glory of our Nation
and our people.
Thy favoring Providence has guided our Nation
from its earliest days unto this resplendent hour.
We pray fervently
that we may be ever worthy
of the continuance of Thy beneficent care.
We commend to Thee
the President of the United States
and all those who are holding up his hands
in the administration of our laws.
We trust that Thy wisdom and love
may abide in this Hall of legislation
so that the work of peace and of understanding,
of progress and of consecration
may win the approval of Thine all-seeing eye.
Bless all our free and noble institutions,
now and evermore.
Amen.

This prayer of the guest chaplain was offered in the seventh month of the first session of the 69th US House of Representatives, and published in the Congressional Record, vol. 67 part 10 (7 June 1926), page 10819.
