La Tefila du Soldat is an abridged bilingual Hebrew-French prayerbook for French-Jewish soldiers prepared in 1939 by Rabbi Maurice Liber, the former interim Chief Rabbi of France under Rabbi Israël Lévi (from 1934-1939). In addition to abridged liturgy, the prayerbook also contains a curated selection of teḥinot in vernacular French, and psalms in French translation. Rabbi Isaie Schwartz, appointed chief rabbi in 1939, wrote the introductory letter to Jewish soldiers at the start of the French section of the siddur. In it, he notes the prayerbook is, essential, a copy of one offered to French-Jewish soldiers by the Consistoire central israelíte de France during World War Ⅰ.

This is the “Prière Pour la Fête de Hanouka” as found in אמרי לב Prières D’un Cœur Israélite, a collection of paraliturgical prayers and teḥinot in French by Jonas Ennery & Rabbi Arnaud Aron (Consistoire central israélite de France 1848/53). In the 1848 edition, the prayer can be found on pages 158-160. In the 1852 edition, on pages 401-403.
