רִבּוֹן עוֹלָמִים
וֶאֱלֹהֵי שָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ,
אֲשֶׁר הִבְטַחְתָּנוּ
”וְנָטַעְתִּי אֶתְכֶם וְלֹא אֶתּוֹשׁ“ (ירמיהו מב:י חלק)
חַזֵּק־נָא יָדֵינוּ
בְּבוֹאֵנוּ לָטַעַת בְּאַדְמַת אַרְצֶךָ
וּלְהַעֲמִיק שֹׁרֶשׁ בְּקַרְקַע אַרְצֵנוּ,
בְּהַמְשִׁיכֵנוּ אֶת מַעֲשֶׂה אַבְרָהָם אָבִינוּ,
כַּכָּתוּב: ”וַיִּטַּע אֶשֶׁל בִּבְאֵר שָׁבַע.“ (בראשית כא:לג חלק)

Master of worlds
and elo’ah of Heaven and Earth
that has promised us:
“I will plant you and not uproot you,”
may you strengthen our hands
as we come to plant in the soil of your land,
and to deepen our roots in the earth of our land,
by continuing to do the deeds of Avraham our forefather,
as it is written “And he planted a tamarisk in Be’er Shava.”

בָּרֵךְ אֶת נְטִיעוֹתֵינוּ
וְהַעֲמֵק שָׁרְשֵׁיהֶן
כְּדִבְרֵי נְבִיאֵיךָ:
”וְאָנֹכִי נְטַעְתִּיךְ שׂוֹרֵק, כֻּלֹּה זֶרַע אֱמֶת,“ (ירמיהו ב:כא חלק)
”וְכָרַתִּי לָהֶם בְּרִית שָׁלוֹם…“ (יחזקאל לז:כו חלק)
”וְהוֹרַדְתִּי הַגֶּשֶׁם בְּעִתּוֹ,
גִּשְׁמֵי בְרָכָה יִהְיוּ.“ (יחזקאל לד:כו חלק)

May you bless our plantings
and deepen their roots,
as your prophet said:
“I planted you with noble vines, all with choicest seed,”
“I will make a covenant of peace with them…”
“…and I will cause the rainshowers to fall in their season;
there shall be showers of blessing.”

וִיהִי רָצוֹן שֶׁיִּתְקַיֵּם בָּנוּ,
בְּבָנֵינוּ וּבְנוֹתֵינוּ מִקְרָא שֶׁכָּתוּב:
”וְשַׂשְׂתִּי עֲלֵיהֶם לְהֵטִיב אוֹתָם
וּנְטַעְתִּים בָּאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת בֶּאֱמֶת.“ (ירמיהו לב:מא חלק)

And may it be your will that you will cause this to occur
for our sons and daughters, as the Scripture says:
“I will rejoice over them to do them good,
and I will plant them in this land in truth.”

הַנּוֹטְעִים בְּרִנָּה – בְּגִילָה יִבְצֹרוּ!
וּתְנֵנוּ בִּמְהֵרָה בְּיָמֵינוּ
אִישׁ תַּחַת גַּפְנוֹ וְתַחַת תְּאֵנָתוֹ,
וְנֹאמַר אָמֵן.

Those who sow in joy, may they harvest in happiness!
And may you place, quickly in our day,
everyone under their vine and under their fig tree.
And may we say Amen.

Name: Ze'ev Kainan
Bio: Ze'ev Kainan is the CEO of Mosad Bialik Publishing House. Ze'ev was the CEO of Keren Malki - an Israeli nonprofit organization that assists families of children with special needs, and the director of education and special projects at Tikvatenu Centers network. Ze'ev worked for years with youth and was a delegate to the Ramah camps (California, Canada, Poconos, and the Ramah Seminar in Israel) as well as other JCC camps. From 1997 to 2000, he served as a central emissary for the USY movement in North America, on behalf of the Jewish Agency. He later served as the director of the youth movement of the Masorti Movement in Israel for seven years and is also the editor of the siddur va'Ani Tefillati - Siddur Yisraeli and the Poteach Sha'ar Machzor for the High Holidays of the Masorti Movement. Ze'ev was born and raised in the religious kibbutz of Sa'ad in the northern Negev, three kilometers east of Gaza City and now lives in Jerusalem with his wife, Dr. Lisa Kainan and their three children - all graduates of Noam.
