Excerpt: An original announcement, or hakhraza, for days of thanksgiving (Purim and Ḥanukkah). Written in the style of other more well-known announcements, like the Sephardic announcement of fasts, or the Italian-rite announcement for Pesaḥ, and to be recited in the same location in the Torah service after the haftara. . . .

|
Our siblings, all the house of Israel and all joined with us, listen!
|
On Shabbat Zakhor
On the (__) day, and in walled cities on the (__) day, are the days of Purim, on which we may not eulogize nor fast. |
On the Shabbat before Ḥanukkah
From (__) day until (__) day next week are the eight days of Ḥanukkah, on which we may not eulogize nor fast. |
And just as You worked Your wondrous miracles and many salvations with our ancestors,
so too work with us, o Cause our God, wonder and miracles, and save us from the hand of antisemites in these days as in those. |
As it is written in the words of Your Torah:
“And They said: Behold I cut a covenant with you: before all Your people, I will work wonders, such as have never been seen in all the land and in all the nations, and all the people in which you are will see the work of the Cause, for awesome is what I will do with you.” (Exodus 34:10) |
And in the songs of Your anointed servant it is written, quote:
“You are the wonder-working Deity; Your might You made known among the peoples.” (Psalms 77:15) |
And in the prophecies of Your holy prophets it is written, quote:
“Like the days of your exodus from the land of Egypt, I wil show him wonders.” (Micah 7:15) |
And thus may it be willed,
and we say amen. |
