He who dispenseth salvation unto kings,
and dominion unto princes; whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom; who delivered his servant David from the destructive sword;[1] Find 1 Chronicles 21:15. who maketh a way in the sea,[2] i.e., for the Israelites through the Sea of Reeds. and a path through the mighty waters,[3] again, for the Israelites, through the River Jordan. |
May he bless, preserve, guard, assist
exalt, and highly aggrandize, our most gracious Sovereign lord, King GEORGE the Third, our most amiable Queen CHARLOTTE, his Royal Highness GEORGE Prince of Wales, the PRINCESS of Wales, and all the ROYAL FAMILY; |
May the supreme King of kings
through his infinite mercy preserve them, and grant them life and deliver them from all manner of trouble and danger; |
May the supreme King of kings
exalt and highly aggrandize him, and grant him long and prosperously to reign; |
May the supreme King of kings
through his infinite mercy, inspire him and all his counsellors and nobles with benevolence towards us, and all Israel, our brethren; |
In his days and in our’s,
may Judah be saved, and Israel dwell in safety; and may the Redeemer come unto Zion, which God of his infinite mercy grant; and let us say, Amen. |
This variation of the formula for the prayer Hanoten Teshua is found in the second printing of David Levi’s siddur, Seder haTefilot (1810), p.129v-131r.
Compare with this girsah found in Levi’s Festival Prayer Book.
