Excerpt: A Tu biShvat prayer for the trees of the land of Israel and the world over, that they not be victims of deforestation. . . .
Hebrew | English |
---|---|
Our God and God of our ancestors,
renew the forests in the Land of Israel and all the world. |
And guard the trees within them,
renewers of the air and guardians of life. |
And enlighten the mind
of those who would cut them down in this land and in all the lands of the world, as it is written, “You shall not cut down its trees by wielding against them an axe.”[1] Deuteronomy 20:19 |
And also, in the words of King Solomon it is written,
“A tree of life it is to those who hold fast to it, and all its supporters are content.”[2] Proverbs 3:18 Blessed are you, the renewer of the trees. |
