This is an archive of prayers and songs written for, or relevant to, רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה לַמְּלָכִים (Rosh haShanah la-Melakhim) -- the New Year's Day for Sovereigns (Kings & Queens) -- marking the beginning of the year of many historic secular calendars including the Jewish calendar, and commencing with the first day of the month of Nisan. (Rosh haShanah la-Melakhim coincides with Rosh Ḥodesh Nisan.)

This is a variation of Mipi El in Hebrew with a Judeo-Arabic translation found in the Seder al-Tawḥid for Rosh Ḥodesh Nissan, compiled by Mosheh Asher ibn Shmuel in 1887 in Alexandria.

“Meditation on the works of God” by Grace Aguilar was published posthumously by her mother Sarah Aguilar in the UK edition of Sacred Communings, pp. 79-82. It is not found in the US edition.

תפילה להתחדש | A Prayer for Renewal, by Hillel Zeitlin

This prayer by Hillel Zeitlin was published as “That We Be Reborn” with an English translation by Eugene Kohn in the Sabbath Prayer Book (Jewish Reconstructionist Foundation 1945) of Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan. I have slightly modified Kohn’s translation by replacing thee and thou with you and your, etc. Zeitlin’s prayer is undated and likely was published earlier and elsewhere.
