Aqédat Yitsḥaq

Aqédat Yitsḥaq

The Qorbanot section of preparatory prayers begins the archetypal tale of an early more journey and sacrificial offering — the עֲקֵדַת יִצְחָק binding of Yitsḥaq (Isaac) by his father as attested in Genesis 22:1-19. The liturgical reading of the Aqedah is bookended by a couple of prayers. In the custom of Sefarad, a handful of biblical verses are offered in support of these prayers.
