Friede sei mit euch, unsere Leiter und Lehrer! Möge eure Seele im Bunde des Lebens sein mit dem Ewigen, unserem Gotte! Friede sei mit euch, Friede mit eurer Lagerstätte, Friede sei eurer Ruhestätte! Heil euch, ihr habet das Glück gehabt, in Gottes Wegen zu wandeln, nun seid ihr bestimmt zum ewigen Leben, gleich den Gerechten werdet ihr hocherhaben mit heiligen Engeln wohnen. Der Ewige wird eure Auferstehung beschleunigen; euer Antlitz wird bald leuchten wie der Himmelsglanz, eure Tugend, eure Redlichkeit, die Lehre deren Erforschung ihr euer Leben gewidmet habt, wird auch uns beistehen. Friede wird mit uns sein in diesem Leben, wie ihr Frieden habet auf eurer Lagerstätte.

Und wie wir für die Ruhe eurer Seele beten, so möget auch ihr für uns zu Gott beten. Um seiner großen Barmherzigkeit und Güte willen, um die Reinheit unserer Urväter Abraham, Isaak und Jakob und aller Frommen, die nach seinem Willen gelebt haben, möge er sich unserer und der Unsrigen erbarmen, er beschütze und bewahre uns und alles was uns gehört. Er entziehe sein Ohr nicht, unsere Gebete, die aus dem Innersten des Herzens kommen, zu erhören. Erbarmungsvoll sende er uns schnell Rettung. O daß er uns nie verlasse und nie vergesse den Bund mit unsern Urvätern, wie er uns durch seinen Diener Moses in seiner heiligen Schrift verheißen hat: „Aber auch wenn sie im Lande ihrer Feinde sein werden, will ich sie nicht verwerfen, sie nicht verabscheuen, sie aufzureiben, meinen Bund mit ihnen zu zerstören, denn ich bin der Ewige, ihr Gott.” (Leviticus 26, 44) Ferner heißt es: „Ich werde ihnen gedenken den Bund mit den Vorfahren, die ich herausgeführt habe aus dem Lande Egypten, ihnen ein Gott zu sein, ich der Herr!” (Leviticus 26, 45) Drum heben auch wir Herz und Auge zu Gott empor, wir beugen das Knie, und bekennen mit Thränen unsere Sünden und erflehen Verzeihung derselben und Hilfe in der Noth.

And as we pray for the repose of your soul, may you also pray to God for us. For the sake of His great mercy and goodness, for the purity of our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the pious who lived according to His will, may He have mercy on us and ours, may He protect and preserve us and all that is ours. May he not withhold his ear from hearing our prayers, which come from the innermost part of our hearts. Mercifully send us deliverance quickly. O that he would never leave us nor forget the covenant with our forefathers, as he promised us through his servant Moses in his holy scripture: “But even though they be in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, nor abhor them, nor wear them out, nor destroy my covenant with them, for I am the Eternal their God.” (Leviticus 26:44) It further says, “I will remember to them the covenant with the ancestors whom I brought out of the land of Egypt, to be a God to them, I the Lord!” (Leviticus 26:45) Therefore we also lift up our heart and eye to God, we bow the knee, and confess our sins with tears, and implore forgiveness of them and help in trouble.
