|
For the conductor, a psalm of David.
|
May the Cause answer you on a day of trouble,
may the name of the God of Jacob secure you. |
May God send Your help from the Holy,
and from Zion sustain you. |
May God remember all your minḥah offerings,
and approve your whole-offerings – Selah. |
May God give you your heart’s desire,
and fulfill all your plans. |
Let us shout for joy in your victory,
bannered in the name of our God; may the Cause fulfill all your requests. |
Now I know
that the Cause will save the anointed, will answer him from the heavens of the Holy with might, dexterous victory. |
They call on chariots, they call on horses,
but we call on the name of the Cause our God. |
They collapse and fall,
and we rise and gain strength. |
O Cause, save!
May the Sovereign answer us on the day we call. |
“The Cause” is used to translate the Divine Name YHVH, based on the philosophical idea of God as the Prime Mover and on the interpretation of the Name as a causative form of the copula – “causes to be.”
