Note: “The CAUSE” is used to translate the Divine Name YHVH, based on the philosophical idea of God as the Prime Mover and on the interpretation of the Name as a causative form of the copula – “causes to be.”

שִׁ֥יר הַֽמַּעֲל֗וֹת לְדָ֫וִ֥ד
1 A song of ascents, of David.
הִנֵּ֣ה מַה־טּ֭וֹב וּמַה־נָּעִ֑ים
שֶׁ֖בֶת אַחִ֣ים גַּם־יָֽחַד׃
Behold, how good and how sweet
for brothers to dwell as one!
כַּשֶּׁ֤מֶן הַטּ֨וֹב ׀ עַל־הָרֹ֗אשׁ
יֹרֵ֗ד עַֽל־הַזָּקָ֥ן זְקַֽן־אַהֲרֹ֑ן
שֶׁ֝יֹּרֵ֗ד עַל־פִּ֥י מִדּוֹתָֽיו׃
2 Like good oil on the head,
descending down the beard, Aharon’s beard,
descending the opening of his garbs.
כְּטַל־חֶרְמ֗וֹן שֶׁיֹּרֵד֮ עַל־הַרְרֵ֢י צִ֫יּ֥וֹן
כִּ֤י שָׁ֨ם ׀ צִוָּ֣ה יהוה אֶת־הַבְּרָכָ֑ה
חַ֝יִּ֗ים עַד־הָעוֹלָֽם׃
3 Like the dew of Hermon, descending on the mountains of Zion,
for there the CAUSE commanded blessing,
life forevermore.
