Author unknown, Ayn Adir kAdonai (“There is none like YHVH”) was originally composed as a piyyut for Shavu’ot. Macy Nulman writes in the Encyclopedia of Jewish Prayer that the poem was transmitted orally and was put into writing in the 1700s. Variants of the text exist in different compilations. This is a variation of Mipi El in Hebrew with a Judeo-Arabic translation found in the Seder al-Tawḥid for Rosh Ḥodesh Nissan, compiled by Mosheh Asher ibn Shmuel in 1887 in Alexandria. The English translation provided is adapted from the one offered by Akiva Sanders with changes made to the lines which differ from the variation that he translated. Vocalization of the Judeo-Arabic by Isaac Gantwerk Mayer. –Aharon Varady
